Fashion/Life Icon - Lauren Conrad.

Over the past few years I have had a bit of a battle with the whole 'am I the wrong shape' idea. I know that I am not the only one in the world who has these feelings, as I can assure you that every single other girl on the planet has these feelings as well. I think that the majority of this imapact comes from the media such as reality tv shows, adverts, magazines and also the fact that we are now so much closer to celebrities lives and what they do than we were around 50 years ago. Celebrites have become a massive part of our lives and we all strive to be like them in one way or another.

In terms of fashion and beauty, I was always obsessed and influenced by the Olsen twins (Mary-Kate and Ashley) until I realised that they were completely making me obsessed with body image, as they are literally stick thin and gorgeous. It wasn't doing my head or self confidence any good so decided that I had to embrace myself and just accept that I am a curvy girl. (I would in no way call myself fat or chubby but I have a rather large 'Kim Kardashian' butt).

However over the past few weeks I have come to notice the absolutely gorgeous style of Lauren Conrad. I was never a massive fan of her when she was in The Hills but I think that now she is away from that she has matured into this confident beauty of a woman!

Her style is very classic and chic and she looks amazing in absolutely everything that she wears. What I like most about Lauren in that shes not one of these stick thin girls that you see in fashion everywhere these days, shes a normal size which makes her even more attractive.
I dont know how she does it but she literally just glows!

Lauren has also started her own fashion label called Paper Crown, and for me I think that any busniess prospects in a woman is very attractive. It shows her independance and confidence in life which is what all girls which to achieve and to aspire to.

She is literally perfect in every way possible!

Who are your fashion/life icons and for what reasons?

The End is Here...

So..after a very stressful two years, the time has come to say 'bye' to Uni..as I have now finished!! We had our final degree exhibition on Tuesday night (19th June) which had a really god turn out (which I was actually rather surprised about) which was then followed by a lot of drinks and a good dance in town with my fellow Uni chums..and our lecturers.

Im not really sure how I feel about finishing...I have been waitin for weeks and weeks for the end to come but now it is here, Im already feeling rather lost. I think that it is finally hit me that I wont be going back again come September, so I am officially a full time adult. Rahh!! This does terrify me quite a bit knowing that now the easy bit is over and I actually have to beging my life now!

Here are a couple of pics from my phone...more to follow when I recieve my camera from the boyfriends bedroom...(this sounds incredibly wrong.)

More pictures to follow....

Saying Goodbye and Saying Hello

For those of you who don't know, over the past few months I have been training (I saw training but it really wasn't) for the Birstol Race for Life 10k! I decided that I wanted to do something worthwhile and practical so I thought that this would be the perfect thing! The Race for Life is a run/walk/jog for women and helps to raise money for Cancer Research Uk. There is no doubt in the whole world that Cancer is a massive part of pretty much everyones lives in the world, and ever single person has most likely been affected by Cancer at some stage in their life. For me it has recently been with my Uncle Paul, my mum's brother who was fighting with his illness for almost a year but sadly lost on the 27th December 2011. The part that affeced me the most was seeing my mum at her lowest over the past year which was heartbreaking as she is meant to be my support, rather than the other way round. Therefore I wanted to run this race in memory of Uncle Paul and to help fight this son-of-a-bitch illness once and for all!

The furthest I have ever ran in my life is 4K, and I thought that 10K couldn't be much harder. Oh how wrong I was!! I thought I was going to die at 1K....anyway...I managed to cross the finish line at 1 hour and 13 minutes which I was absolutely over the moon about and as a bonus managed to raise over £200!! So a little pat on the back for me :)
Before the race
After the race....yay!

Uncle Paul :)

Theres me down at the front next to my mum in the blue jumper :)

So after this event, and with very stiff legs, the following day I was able to meet my new baby cousin Toby :) He is the cutest little bundle of cuteness in the whole entire world! Ive always loved children and it is my dream in life to be a mother so this was an amazing moment for me :)

I guess the moral of this story is that, yes tragedies in familied do happen and loss is a horrible fact of life, but we also have to celebrate the new little lives who are entering the world and who are yet to go on their own massive journey! It's just so true how amazing and yet incredibly bazaar life really is :) Enjoy it little Toby :).

May favourites!

Ive taken some time this month to try out a few new products which I normally never really experiment with. I was before using the same old makeup routine and was getting a bit bored with it so wanted to try something new and fresh for spring/summer :) I have picked out a few of my favourites for the past month and wanted to share them with you so that you could possibly try them yourself if you wanted to try something a bit new!

First of all is my Rimmel 'Wake Me Up Foundation'. I normally find it really difficult to find a foundation that matches my skin tone as I have quite naturally olive skin so either end up going really orange or really pale. This foundation is a-mazing. It is so soft on your skin and has a medium cover, which therefore is buildable if you're not happy with the cover it gives. I also have quite normal skin texture but do suffer with dryness on the top of my nose but oily skin in the creases and around my chin. However this product works absolute wonders for coverage and blends really well. It also has a slight shimmery glow and dewy effect which just creates a fresh look. This is a definate reccomendation! Its also a bargain price at around £6-£9!!

Secondly is this 'Pore-fessional' base from Benefit. It is unbelieveable. I have never felt a product that is so soft and literally just melts into your skin. It is designed to cover the appearence of pores and create a smooth texture for your skin, and it really works wonders. I do suffer with quite bad pores over my nose and on the top of ym cheeks, but with this product I get an amazing finish. I never really go for more expensive makeup but wanted to treat myself and to see whether you do get quality for your money, and I have proved myself right! Its a bit expensive at £22 but if you do suffer with quite bad pores and are looking for a radiant finish, then this is for you! It can also be used over or under makeup which is so useful!

I do suffer with quite dry skin so was looking for a moisturiser that would so the job. I normally just go for E45 but was getting a bit bored as it is just a plain product with so scent and after a while was finding that it was making my skin a bit greasy. I therefore went on a hunt for a bit of a glamourous product that would also do the job. I tried a few but this 'Glow Job' for Soap and Glory is amazing!
It has great coverage and a little goes a long way. It also has a comforting summery sort of sun tan lotion scent, but the best thing about it is the tiny brozing pearls that literally explose as you but it on your face. Its a  perfect product to use if you are having a 'no make up' day as it gives you a soft base with a shimmer to it which creates a healthy glow! I love this product, and I think it was around the £9 mark!

I never normally buy blusher and normally just use a light bronzer on my skin as its got quite an olivey tone to it anyway. However I had a £5 voucher for No7 make up so went to see what I could find. I picked up a Mineral Perfection blusher in shade 'Dusted Damsen' and its brilliant. Its got a really gentle coverage which just gives you a bit of a rosy glow and blends really well so looks natural. Its also a really soft texture and doest feel like its just stuck on your face which is great! It was originally £9 but with the voucher was down to £4 so couldnt resist. Its brilliant quality and I highly reccomend for those who dont really like a strong and obvious blush.

The last product on my list is the Boots Essential facial toner for all skin types. I find that even when Ive taken all my makeup off and washed my face I still dont really have that 'fresh' feeling. I picked this up a cople of weeks ago and love it. Its got a cucumber scent and really gets into your skin and using a cotton pad really removes all left over oil and dirt. It makes me feel so fresh a clear skinned and is an amazing price at something like £2 a bottle. I might even buy the makeup remover too!

So that's it for May :) Im going to be experimenting with different products throughout June and summer too so will keep you updated with next months favourites in a few weeks :)
